This expedition is designed for certified divers who are comfortable in the water and interested in pelagic diving in open ocean conditions. Advanced Open Water certification is preferred, and participants should be comfortable with occasional currents and blue-water entries.

Optional daily recovery yoga sessions are offered to support mobility, circulation, and relaxation between dive days. Sessions are led by a certified yoga instructor and are kept short and accessible, lasting around 30 minutes.

The focus is on releasing tension from diving and travel, supporting recovery, and helping you arrive at each dive feeling rested and clear. Yoga is completely optional and designed to complement the diving, not compete with it.

Maathundi Hotel is a small boutique hotel in Fuvahmulah, offering a calm and comfortable base for the expedition. The hotel provides clean, well-appointed rooms and full-board meals, creating an easy rhythm between diving and rest.

From the hotel, it’s a short walk to the jetty and nearby beaches, including Thoondu Beach with its distinctive white pebble shoreline. The setting is simple, practical, and well suited to the pace of the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be Advanced Open Water Certified?
Advanced Open Water or equivalent is recommended if you want to get the most out of the full dive itinerary.

The tiger shark dives at Tiger Point are relatively shallow, so Advanced certification is not necessarily required for those specific dives. However, some of Fuvahmulah’s other dive sites are deeper and better suited to divers with more experience, good buoyancy control and comfort in open water.

If you are Open Water certified, contact us and we can advise whether the trip is suitable based on your experience.

How many dives should I have?
We recommend around 50 logged dives, but we assess this on a case-by-case basis. Confidence, buoyancy and comfort in the water matter more than the number alone.

If you have fewer dives but are comfortable in the water, let us know and we can assess suitability.

Can non-divers join the trip?
Yes, non-divers may be able to join the trip, depending on room availability and package arrangements.

Fuvahmulah also offers possibilities for freediving, snorkelling and island-based activities, so there may be options for guests who do not scuba dive. These activities are subject to conditions, availability and suitability.

Are tiger shark sightings guaranteed?
No wildlife encounter can be guaranteed. Fuvahmulah is known for highly reliable tiger shark encounters, but conditions and sightings can vary.

Are international flights included?
No. International flights to and from Malé are not included.

Are domestic flights included?
Yes. Return domestic flights between Malé and Fuvahmulah are included in the package.

Is dive gear included?
Dive gear rental is not included but can be arranged on request.

Is dive insurance required?
Yes, dive insurance is strongly recommended, and you should have travel insurance that covers scuba diving.

Can I join alone?
Yes. Solo divers are welcome. The package is based on twin-share accommodation, and we can pair you with another diver where possible.

Can non-diving partners join?
Yes, depending on room availability and package arrangements. Contact us and we can check options.

How do I reserve my spot?
Request the info pack, confirm your dive experience with us, and we will send the deposit and booking details. Your space is confirmed once the deposit is received.
